The dog days are over.

Hi! I'm Amanda, on a journey to becoming fit & finally be happy with myself. I'm currently training for a 10k in November and plan to tackle my first MARATHON in the next year! I would love to have a network of supportive fitblrs so we can encourage and motivate each other. Feel free to say hi anytime! :)
Had a good run, hair’s cooperating today, feelin good. :)

I just ran for 45 minutes straight on the treadmill!!! It may not seem like a huge accomplishment to some, but it is for me because 1) I HATE the treadmill with a passion! And 2) I haven’t been able to run for more than 20 minutes at a time for the past couple of months. Yay for breakthroughs!!! Don’t set limits on yourself, set crazy goals and know there is nothing you cannot do.

Helloooooo!

I’ve recently made the decision to convert my personal tumblr into a personal FITBLR to up the motivation and keep myself accountable in my fitness journey. A little about me: my name’s Amanda, I’m 24 years old, living in NC and currently training to run a 10k in November with my dad.

From 2009-2013 I gained ~30 lbs at a steady rate. I’m only 5’3, so at 178 (my highest weight), I was right at obese. Super unhappy with myself, with how I looked and felt physically, I was taking it out on everyone around me and finally had enough.

In fall 2013 I started running and practicing portion control. It hasn’t been a smooth journey, with a lot of setbacks and plateaus. It has also not been a SHORT journey. I often feel like I should’ve lost a lot more weight and become a much better runner by now, and there have been times (especially around the holidays) when I just wasn’t that dedicated to my fitness journey at all. And even when I was fully dedicated and trying my hardest, it took me awhile to find my footing and find out what worked for me and what didn’t. The bottom line: small changes work the best. When I feel discouraged I just remind myself that slow progress is still PROGRESS.

The photos above are Before and During. Not much difference between the two photos, I know, but I’m not too sure of my weight in the first one, since I didn’t take many photos at my highest weight (anyone else know that feeling?). Anyway STATS!:

Sw: 178 lbs (August 2013)
Cw: 155.6 lbs (August 26th, 2014)
Gw: 130 lbs

Total lost: 22.4 lbs

I’m looking to the Tumblr community for support, and I will most definitely be your avid cheerleader if you’re on a fitness journey as well! Please stop by to say hi or let me know about your blog! :)

More to come,

Amanda
